General Information

Flag and tackle programs are offered during the year with KCFC.

Flag programs are offered in the spring and fall, with either individual or team registrations!  Don't have a team?   Sign up as an individual and we'll do our best to place your child on a team either in his or her high school area, or as close as possible.   Are you a coach that has a team already?   Have each child register individually and list you as their coach.  Your part in signing up is to complete a volunteer application, which will include a place for you to list the kids for your roster.  For the flag program, we try to keep teams by grade, but will, if numbers require it, form combined grades -- such as K and 1, 2nd and 3rd, 4th and 5th, 5th and 6th, and 7th and 8th.  We will not place children on teams with 2 grades apart (such as a 3rd grader on a 5th grade team),

Our tackle program currently starts at 3rd grade and now goes through 7th grade, as the Shawnee Mission district started playing school ball in 8th grade in 2024.  Teams are formed by high school areas.  Blue Valley, Shawnee Mission, Kearney, Liberty and Staley teams go through 7th grade.  Teams from Paola, Louisburg, Spring Hill, Gardner, Desoto/Mill Valley, Olathe, Platte County, Savannah, Smithville and St Joseph play through 6th grade as their schools begin "school ball" in 7th grade.

KCFC owns helmets and shoulder pads and rents to participants who do not wish to purchase their own equipment.   If you own your equipment, we require that the equipment be checked by our Equipment Manager or designee prior to the start of the season to ensure safety.   KCFC reconditions helmets every three years and require that owned equipment be reconditioned as required by the manufacturer as well.

KCFC had 92 tackle teams participate in 2023 and few teams played the same team more than once.  Games are played at Heritage Park Football Complex as well as Kearney, Liberty, Platte County, Smithville, Savannah and Staley.

Camps throughout the year -- spring break, winter break, summer -- allow football players to work on their skills throughout the year.
