The football and cheerleading programs have certification requirements for coaches. See below for specific requirements.
Cheerleading
Attendance is mandatory for cheerleading coach and all assistant coaches at the coach’s meetings conducted by the area director, as well as the applicable Coach’s Instructional Seminars annually. Failure to attend meetings and seminars will result in loss of coaching privileges.
Returning coach seminars will be held on Saturday, May 16, June 20, July 18, August 15 at SM West High School. New coach seminars will be held on Saturday, June 20, July 18, August 15. When making your reservation, please provide your grade and high school area.
Football
General. Those individuals who are interested in being a head or asistant coach during the 2009 FCCJC football programs - spring flag, fall tackle or fall flag - must complete a 2009 application form and be approved by the appropriate FCCJC authority as provided in the rulebook. Individuals may not participate in practices of games until their application has been approved. (Form available on website under Coaches Corner tab.)
Certification Program. All coaches are encouraged to be certified. The head coach and at least one assistant coach for a team in any of the above programs must complete the club's certification program. At least one certified coach must be in attendance at every practice and game. To be certified, a coach must:
Spring Flag (Grades K-5). Attend the coaches orientation clinic (which was conducted on Wednesday, March 25, at the FCCJC offices). Topics covered: team assignments; program objectives; operations and rules; sportsmanship; coaches responsibilities; equipment checkout; playing time; and overall team management.
Fall Flag (Grades K-1). Attend the coaches orientation clinic [scheduled for Thursday, August 27 at 7 pm at the FCCJC office]. Topics covered: team assignments; program objectives; operations and rules; sportsmanship; first aid and injury management; coaches responsibilities; equipment checkout; playing time; and overall team management.
Fall Tackle (Grades 2-8).
- Attend one FCCJC Orientation Clinic; and
- Attend one FCCJC Development Clinic if you have less than four (4) years FCCJC coaching experience in tackle football. .

- Orientation Clinics. Areas to be covered include: game operations; rules and officials; sportsmanship; first aid and injury management; coaches responsibilities; practice issues; playing time and overall team management.

- Development Clinics. Areas to be covered include: practice planning; team and individual drills; teaching skills and techniques; offensive and defensive schemes; training and conditioning; theories of teaching and motivating young players. Clinicians will include college, high school and experienced youth coaches.
